Needed Family Rant
Personal Finance
My fiance’s brother is in the midst of a divorce. Basically his wife packed up everything and left for her hometown in California leaving him with hardly anything except his son, so he was forced to move out of their place and move into a smaller one. He said he was really financially strapped and asked us if we had any spare furniture, clothes, or food in our pantry that we weren’t going to eat. So naturally we gave him all the furniture we weren’t really using, extra food in our pantry, and went to the stores and bought him a bunch of stuff for his new place (bath towels, kitchen plates, silverware, etc).
So we go up to help him move in and drop off the stuff this weekend, walk into his new place, and sitting on the TV stand we gave him is a brand new $1000+ LCD TV with a $500 surround sound system. I guess some people have their priorities right.

That makes me sick. You are way stronger than I. My rant would have continued to how I took everything I had just purchased back to the store. He could have easily bought a $100-$200 t.v. and the needed essentials. I wonder if he is in debt?
Well, if it actually my brother I would have done just that. But since it wasn’t, and my fiance’s family was there (and didn’t say anything about it) I felt it was probably best if I just let it go.
Wow! At the very least I would’ve taken my fiance to the side and had a really long discussion about how to teach her brother a bit about finances…at least to show some respect to the folks that are helping him out by not wasting what money he does have! I can’t imagine no one else in that room had issues with the new TV.
