I live in a moderately sized single home community consisting of about 175 relatively new homes. Currently our home owners a association dues are $187 a year which covers the upkeep (mowing, fertilization, etc) of the common areas.

I just received a letter from them indicating the 2 signs in the front of the community are in distress and we have 3 options to vote upon:

• Repair the signs at an approximate cost of $1,000 - $5.75 per household.
• Replace the signs with the same design at an approximate cost of $5,000 - $28.75 per household.
• Replace the signs with a new design at an approximate cost of $15,000 - $86.50 per household.

Okay, so I’ll admit I’m not really up on my community sign pricing… but does it really cost $15,000 to design and build 2 signs? Am I the only one who finds that ludicrous? I guess we’ll see when the voting is tallied.
