IRS EFile – When Will I Get My Refund Direct Deposit or Check? (2009)

For those of you like me wondering when you can expect to receive your refund direct depot or check once you efile the IRS has a handy publication 2043 with this information.
The table below shows when your federal tax refund should be deposited in your bank account or your check mailed if you efiled and your refund was accepted within certain dates.

I am in the same boat. My Federal was accepted on Jan 26 and was due to be DD on Feb 5. Here is is Feb 8 and I still haven’t received anything. Last year I got it on the exact date that they said. This is rediculous. Bills do have to be paid and they are holding our money. WMR said to give it to Feb 10th so I guess Ill wait until then. As selfish as it sounds Im so glad I am not the only one. Makes me feel a little bit more at ease.
Same thing here. E-filed it on Jan. 16th and here it is Feb 8th and I’m still waiting. I get the message on the IRS website that they have no info at this time. The form I filled and sent, says that they accepted it on the 17th.
I was beginning to get worried, and I still am, that I had done something wrong in filling it out, but at least I found this site and I see I’m not the only one.

I did mine on 01/18 through Turbo Tax and I still have not gotten mine. There were to be deposited on 01/29 and I did not get them and so I was told to wait until 02/05 and did not get them and no one has answers. The WMR sites says that they cannot provide any information on my refund… it does NOT even show they were pending or give me a date or anything. It says this :
We are sorry, we cannot provide any information about your refund.
It can take up to 3 weeks to process your return. Please wait at least one week before you log-on again to check the status of your refund.
And it keeps saying that…. I call and call. I email and post and no one seems to want to help. The IRS is JAMMED and I dont have time to sit on hold for an hour. I was hoping this was happening to someone else so that i can feel at ease…
I did my taxes on turbo tax in Jan. The IRS website said it was deposited on Feb 5th, but It was never depostied. Here it is the 8th and still nothing, but I did get a state refund about a week after filing. So i figured theyd at least send the federal as well.
WMR says my money has been deposited on the 5th but here it is Monday morning and still nothing in my account! My return was sent in on 1/28 and was accepted. This is just unreal! It just seems like that IRS is always screwing up somewhere. I received no notices in the mail or emails.
ok i filed with turbo tax and was accepted jan 17th got a due date of 29th of jan. then the 2nd of feb then the 5th and i called the irs talked to a lady for about an hour she said that there was some kind of computer error that sent it to something i cant remember but she then said that by monday the 8th my tax return shoul be updated on wheres my refund website so im guessing next friday will be my deposite date but nothing has updated on the website so im kinda confused the wmr site says im still being processed for more info call irs mention code 1308 or something like that and yah sorry if that was conffusing and i hope someone can relate if so please notify me thanks!
I’m having the same problem as many ppl it seems. I filed on 1/27 got a dd of 2/5 and no refund. Saturday 2/6 got a letter in the mail from the IRS stating I was being reviewed and have at least 45 days to receive my refund or be contacted again!!! The funny thing is that WMR and the automated system still says my refunds’ being processed and should be deposited by 2/9 which is a Tuesday!!!! I have no idea what to think at this point. I filed the same as last year and got my refund ontime nothing has change but yet no refund this year!!! Not even the representative at IRS can tell me whats happening…..Good Grief!!!

has anyone else waited over 2 weeks??? Mine was to be deposited on 01/29/10 and I got nothing then I was told to wait until 02/05/10 and I got nothing. When I log into the WMR this is what I get..

I got an email from MEta bank on 01/29/10 that said…
Thank you for selecting MetaBank to process your income tax refund. MetaBank has not received your IRS refund this week as expected. We expected to receive your IRS refund on 01/29/2010. Since we only receive IRS deposits once a week, the next opportunity for us to receive your refund is one week past the expected funding date shown above. We will not have any additional information until that time.
Then on 02/05/10.. I got this email from META BANK
Thank you for selecting MetaBank to process your income tax refund. MetaBank has not received your IRS refund. The expected ACH funding date of your refund was 01/29/2010. Since more than one week has passed since your expected funding date, the IRS has delayed the processing of your tax return. You can check on the status of your refund by calling the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. If MetaBank receives your refund after the expected ACH funding date, MetaBank will process your refund according to your original instructions.
So I called the IRS (which is JAMMED with calls and I could not wait due to the time) and got the same message from the Automated system that my taxes are not even processed yet… DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON and when I will receive this $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Well, I did a search to see if the IRS is on schedule with the returns and looks like another year of screw ups on them. Was looking for my DD on the 12th now reading the 16th. Think they would be up-to-date by now, only been doing this for how many years now?!
I filed through H&R Block January 24th…checked the irs website Feb 2nd…it said it would be deposited (to my card) Friday Feb 5th. Had several friends file the same day and got there money Feb 5th. Mine didn’t come in…checked the where’s my refund this morning and it switched to say it’s been deposited…nothing’s there. When you guys get yours, let me know please
IM IN THE SAME BOAT!! I WAS ACCEPTED ON THE 25TH I WAS TOLD DD BY THE 9TH ON THE 3RD THE WRF STATED IT WILL BE DD ON THE 5TH! NOTHING THERE! WHERE THE HELL IS MY BREAD???? I NEED MINES CUZ I WORKED FOR IT!!!!
Wow, I can’t believe that so many people are in the same boat as I am. Filed on Jan. 28th, processed and accepted on Jan. 29th. IRS website says that it was deposited Feb. 5th…no money in my account. I did my return through TurboTax and this was my first time with them. I really hope that I see something by Wednesday…bills, bills, bills!

incometax direct deposit.once release by irs feb.5 for example give it 3 days folks its like a check when you deposit it, check monday feb 8.feb9 feb 10. never fails

I see what you are saying, but when I filed with HRBlock online edition, they asked for a payment before they even let me file it. It asked for a credit card, checking account info etc. I have the impression that they already made me pay. Therefore, they have no business in taking some more money out of my refund. Is this the same thing as Turbo tax? Please clarify. Thanks!
If any of you had preparation fees taken from your refund your refund will be delayed.The irs deposits the funds into Turbo Taxes account.Turbo Tax then takes out the fees for preparation and then they send the funds to your account. I hope this helps….
I filed my return on Jan 24 and received the email from H&R Block that my money was direct deposited on 2/5/10, the same day the IRS has on it’s tracker. However, my bank has nothing. I received the email around noon on Friday, but I have no idea what time it was really deposited. I know the bank won’t post anything over the weekend, so hopefully I will have my money on Monday. I plan on moving soon and I need this money! Usually, the IRS tracker has been right on for me, but not this year. It says not to call unless I do not receive my money by 2/10/10. I just have to be patient and wait.
Also, not sure of your states laws, but in PA if you are served an eviction notice during the winter, you have 90 days to move, and the notices can be reversed. Check your states rental laws, it might ease the stress a little.
WMR states my DD was sent Feb 5. However Metabank says they have not gotten anything from the IRS. IRS DOES deposit on Tuesdays as well. IRS and Metabank confirmed that to me. TT live community is of no help. I basically have no idea when I will get my refund and am not very happy! Anyone else in the same boat?
i filed my return thru taxact and i claimed my scedule c and my deductions as well as my exemptions. I received a letter in the mail stating i would receive my refund within 45 days. I am facing a hardship of eviction and i don’t have anywhere to go and I was looking forward to my refund that was suppose to be direct deposited on Feb.5, 2010. Now what do I do?
I filed with Turbo Tax on Jan 28 it was accepted by the IRS on the 29th and it said I should have my refund direct deposite on Feb. 5. Needless to say I too have not recieved my refund! I checked the “wheres my refund” on the IRS website it states that my taxes have been accepted and are being process if there is no problems or I don not owe anymore taxes I will recieve my refund Feb. 9. However the IRS only makes deposites on FRIDAYS!! The 9th is Tuesday…..
I’m in the same boat I filed with Turbotax this year and my refund was to come on Feb, 5th and I’m still waiting. The IRS “Where is my refund” says it was direct deposited on 02/05/10 and I checked Metabank and It says that the refund has been deposited to my bank on 02/05/10 but my bank account has no pending deposit record and I’m really stressed out.
so my federal refund was mailed on friday feb 5th 2010!! does anyone know how long it will take to get to me? if u have any answers let me know
mmmm that does help as I got my email from the IRS (stating it was deposited) just after 4pm. I don’t bank with WF but that makes sense. I did just talk to my direct branch instead of customer service and they said if it showed up they wouldn’t put a hold on it but send it right through. I guess I’ll wait through the weekend. It doesn’t help that my husband and I are going on vacation on Thursday and we are depending on this money to do it.

I filed with H & R Block and IRS accepted it on Jan 22nd. Refund date was Feb. 5th. Today is Feb 6th and still nothing posted or pending to my account. I called IRS and they told me that the funds were deposited to a H & R Block account first so they can take out their fees and then they will deposit it to my account. When calling H & R (888-832-5625), it stats that funds have already been transferred to my account. I then called my bank (Wells Fargo) and they told me that if funds were transfered after 4pm on Firday it wouldn’t process until Monday. If it was before 2pm it should show up today. Hope this helps…and I hope something comes in on Monday!!!
Glad to see I’m not the only one with this issue. I filed my taxes on Jan 17th, accepted Jan 18th. I too have always used turbo tax with no problems in the past. I elected for direct deposit; however, the irs website is saying that my refund is being mailed on Feb 12th. Is there a problem with the system or what? I have 2 friends who also filed after me and elected for direct deposit. They both received their refund via direct deposit on Jan 29th. I really don’t know if my refund will be mailed or sent by direct deposit. This is confusing and frustrating.
was told that my tax refund was deposited on Feb 5th as well and what you know same result as everyone else it ain’t in my bank account when supposed to be direct deposit have used turbo tax multiple years and never had an issue why all the sudden is everyone having issues!? well guess sit back and wait bank shows no record of deposit or hold on any sum..
JD…the same thing has happened to me! It was to be deposited yesterday (2-5-10) and I even received the email saying it was deposited…and when I check the site it says it was deposited too. My bank says it goes directly into my account when it shows up which mean it hasn’t shown up yet…but it was sent. Makes no sense at all. All my account info is correct. I’m way stressed out.
The IRS said mine was deposited on Feb 5th, and I dont have it either. My dates have not changed from the 5th, but the wording has, instead of saying it will be deposited on the 5th, it says it was deposited. Even when I call the number to check it says the same thing, that it was deposited. Here is the number if any one needs it 1800-829-4477. Let me know if anyone else says the same thing and then they get theirs.
I did see this info elsewhere:
If the IRS accepted your return between January 15th and the 21st there is about a 2 weeks delay due to a computer glitch that sent most 1040 filers to “manual review”.
and also, if you filed for the homebuyers credit, that is holding up many returns for review.
“(Jan. 25) — Taxpayers filing for the homebuyer tax credit had better have all their verifying docs in a row if they expect to collect the windfall of up to $8,000.
Even with the correct documents, home buyers seeking the extended and expanded tax credit can’t file electronically. So they can expect to wait to get their credit or any refund several weeks longer than taxpayers who aren’t filing for the credit.”
The information you have posted does not match the information included in the download. Maybe that is what is leading to confusion for taxpayers?
i to have used turbo tax for over 8 years and have never had a problem the date the irs and turbo tax says has been in my bank that friday morning. the irs and meta bank are saying was deposited on 2/5 and it is not there. very upset and would like to know where the heck it is
Ok, so I used Turbo Tax and our return was ‘accepted’ and was told it should be refunded by Feb 5th..its now the 6th and still nothing….my big problem is that when I got to ‘check the status of my refund’ it says it will BE MAILED on Feb 12, but we opted for Direct Deposit…so are they not going to direct deposit our money??? and just mail me a paper check after I DIDNT want a paper check??
I filed through one of the free tax links on the irs.gov they suggested. I chose freetaxusa.com I am a 1099 (self employed) no dependents and according to freetaxusa I am get at least 900.00 back. Filed on the Jan. 30th. Received an email it was accepted on Jan.31st. Checked the wheres my refund on irs.gov and it says they are processing it and I should receive my refund on Feb. 16th. I opted for a paper check too. Will keep you all posted.
I know this is frustrating for everyone. I found this website last year when I couldn’t find out what was delaying my return. My date kept getting pushed back with a different code, I called every number & talked to countless people. Finally, after about 10 weeks, it showed up in my bank. I filed early January 2009. This year my return is scheduled for Feb. 12th. I’ll keep you posted.
I filed with Turbo Tax as well and I have used them for a long time and have never had any problems up until now and OMG!!!! Was told my refund would be deposited today the 5th…then changed to the 9th…now i checked today and it says the16th.. What im so mad about is that there is nothing that I can find on the IRS website news releases that tells us anything about what is going on??? I would like to know how do you get a REAL person on the phone from the IRS???
This is a mess! Im a fist time filer and i filed on jan 15 the irs said it was accepted on 16th .i was told 8 – 15 days by hr block . Nothing in my account todays date is feb 6th. The irs just tells me its processing. Does any one know how long for first time filing ?

I agree with Napcat I submitted my tax return via Turbo Tax and I have used it for many years no problems but THIS YEAR WOW!!!!! It was rec’vd on Jan 28 ( filed Jan 27 approx 3pm) first date was Feb 5, then I checked again and it was changed to Feb 9 now it says Feb 16th I call the IRS and was told it usally takes 3 weeks to process and I should get it by Feb 19.. WOW .. I explained that I have never had this happen before especially with Direct Deposit … she said ALL I CAN TELL YOU IS THAT IT IS BEING PROCESSED. The day before their system was down … Go Figure….. I know that people that have filed with Tax Brain is having an issue because their refunds were sent to the wrong banks so maybe now the IRS has to pay that overtime to get that mess straight and it is messing everybody else up. If anybody out there submitted there around that time and got it back Holla……

I filled my taxes Efile Jan. 22,2010 and they said I should receive them by Feb. 5, add the ern’t there yet. Could someone please help!!!!!
I’m reading everyone’s comments and am somewhat feeling better that I am not the only one that was expecting my refund today and didn’t receive it. I’m not sure what the hold up is or why the IRS website is saying something different than our bank account.. I hope everyone hangs in there and takes a deep breath….and hopefully we will get our money soon.
I know times are tough, I am definitely STRESSED and feeling the pain of not having enough to make ends meet. God will not close one door withouth opening another one.
Its important to keep in mind that your bank may put a hold on the amount being direct deposited due to the large sum, also, your bank has to process that deposit and it can take up to an addition 3 days before you see it post on your account.
I confirmed that my tax refund was received and accepted on 1/26, when I called, they told me that it takes 3 weeks! The where’s my refund status said my refund is delayed. If I don’t get this money this weekend, I could be evicted!
i was also told since its my first time filing that my return will be delayed a week. why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am having the same problem. The IRS website says that my refund will be deposited today but nothing has posted at my bank yet. I’m getting worried because it’s almost noon already. I know other folks who have already received their refund today.
I had my taxes done by jackson hewitt …the rep had told me the sched. date for my direcr deposit is the 12th of feb. when i check the status on the irs site its said it will be deposit on the 5th feb.. so i call the refund hotline and was inform that a deposit will be made on that date..now when i check my bank theirs nothing theirs???? any have any idea as to if it is done today say after 2 pm will it be on my acct today or tomorrow or monday ….can someone help me with this question ..thank you
Why would it say that my refund will be deposit in my account today Feb. 5, 2010 and it is not in there.
