Sorry Jean but I actually spoke with the IRS and they deffinately do not send out refunds until Fridays. Your bank might wait to deposit it on a later date but they do not send them out any other time. They do in bulk on ever friday morning about 6am and then your bank in turn will accept and register it at their own liesure. The IRS told me that this saves them a lot of time to only do it once a week.
They have been depositing this year(2010) on Tues, Wed, and Fridays to catch up. I received my refund today after being accepted on 01/17. A lot of refunds have went in review this year. I know people who have received refunds on the above days.
This is really scary My friend and I both filed on 2/27 and both were accepted at the same time. She received her direct deposit today, I didn’t. I am getting a good size refund due to all the credits – I checked it and re-entered all the infor 3 times. I don’t get why my says it should be by 3/23 now – unless there are problems. Does anyone know if they only deposit on Fridays?
well reading all of this is making me nervous. My friend got her refund early as I am still waiting I am hoping it will be in my account on the day it say which is 3/19. My mother did my taxes through turbo tax program and all I can do is hope.
I don’t get it? Why are some people getting their refunds direct deposited in 2 weeks or less and some of us are still waiting. No one can seem to give us any answers. What the heck is going on here? We keep waiting from one friday to the next with no hope or help from the IRS.
I am so upset! We had our tax accountant do our taxes and they were accepted by the IRS on February 24th. When I first checked the WMA site for our direct deposit date, it told us that it would be deposited on March 9th. March 9th came and gone and I was told to check today March 12th because they said the IRS does their deposits on Friday’s. Well, I checked today and my bank said that they already received all of the irs direct deposits and I did not get one. I went back on the WMA site and the date is now changed. I get the same message “We have received your tax return and it is being processed. Unless we find mistakes or you owe other taxes, you should receive your refund by March 23, 2010.” Same message as before, the only thing different is the date. Now it is changed from the 9th to the 23rd. So, I called IRS and talked to a live person. I was on hold for 20 minutes before I actually got someone. He told me that processing time is taking anywhere from 3-4 weeks and told me to check back next week and if I still haven’t gotten it by next friday to give them another call. Is anyone else having this problem with the same dates I have given? This is pretty pathetic. Most people depend on this to pay bills. We get garnished if we owe the IRS but they are able to take their own sweet time with us. It doesn’t make sense.
mailed my tax ot irs feb 6,2010 and i wanted my check direct deposit and i thought u got your check quicker but that automated machines says by april 6
Cowboy-
I also mailed mine on 2/01/10. Rec’d by IRS sometime in the first week of March. First date they posted was that I would receive the refund by April 6, 2010… but now they have ALSO bumped mine to April 13, 2010. SAME AS YOURS! Strange! Maybe that is the release date because I also paper filed for the First Time home buyer credit with energy credit… just FYI.
After hearing all the comments above the delay, I was frankly nervous as I filed on Thursday (3/4)early morning and it was accepted by the Turbotax at 9:30am Thursday. The IRS accepted it by 12:32pm but I thought it has already passed the cutoff time of 11:00am according to the cycle. Turbotax said my refund should be here by 11/19 based on the cycle but the IRS website earlier this week was updated to say that my deposit would be here on 3/11. Just checked my checking account and saw my refund !!!! So it only took 7 days from file to refund. I live in Washington state with no state income tax and I’ve pretty simple deductions like mortgage, sales tax and have some stock investments. This is the fastest that I’ve seen. My lucky day !!
In Goggling thru the net, I have thoroughly scared the beejeezus out of myself in reading all the posts by folks who have filed “early” this year and their refunds not being sent “yet”… Yes, we too, are waiting with bated breath for our refund to catch up on some bills and make some home improvements (trying to stimulate the economy). But according to our “leaders” are economy is RECOVERING… am I the only one who is NOT seeing that fact? Oh wait, and the next time I speak to a Call Center, I will actually be able to UNDERSTAND them!
I thought that too Cowboy, because our return was quite large from having to make repairs to our rental property along with having no renters for the year.
Perhaps they are “tactfully” staggering the payments so that there is money in the bank. We, as a nation, are already circling the financial toilet bowl so it’s only a matter of time until they start borrowing to pay “us” back. It’s going to get much worse as everyone rushes to get their taxes done at the last minute!
so… mailed in return on 2/8/10 because of new home buyer credit and IRS will NOT allow efile. WMR had been saying return received, being processed and refunded by March 30, 2010. Just checked TODAY and now it says April 13, 2010. Is the government SO broke that they are delaying/holding on to our refunds?
what i find funny is….
-when we’re late in paying the IRS we get a penalty.
-when they’re delaying in paying our funds back they don’t have to pay any interest/penalty whatsoever!
:/
I received my refund check late Feb. Then before I cashed it I received that stupid 4464C letter saying my refund will be delayed for one or more of the 4 reasons. This year I filed using turbotax and eFiled.
The reasons they are checking are as follows
1. Income.
I had no W2 (maybe that’s why they are checking), but I had 3 1099’s, 1 from bank for interest, 1 from the Social Security, and 1 from my 401K distribution I took in January.
2. Income Tax withheld.
When I took my distribution they withheld $10,000.
My refund was for about half.
3. Tax Credits.
I took the standard deduction.
4. Business Income.
I have no business income.
I think the IRS just wants to hold our money longer – lol !
IRS mailed my check on February 26 and I not received it yet. I check the website and I spoke with a live person and I am getting the same answer that it was mailed on February 26th. I am wondering if it was lost in mail or it was not mailed.
Single mother of triplets. Sole income for this family. Return sent March 5th bank denies reciept. IRS states it was posted that day . Bank sends me back to IRS IRS sends me to bank. In the neantime I am broke!
Well I filed Feb. 16th, WMR said I would get my refund by March 2nd, of course I didn’t. WMR changes to the 1301 code. Which from my understanding is a code that simply means you’ve been waiting over 3 weeks for your tax refund, but Feb 16 to March 2nd is only two weeks. Now I’ve been told that it’s still processing and I will receive a letter on additional information they need. But they can’t tell me what additional info they need over the phone. So……..
Well I must be one of the lucky ones here because I just got my check in the mail this afternoon! Good luck everyone!
45 days was up today..so i called and was told they dont know what the hold up is…gave me a referral to someone else and told me to wait another 30 days……
the irs has an issue …holding people money for so long…hello uncle sam we are broke. .. I filed early I got accepted by Jan 15… then then wmr stated that if there’s no mistake I should receive my taxes by March 2. My mom also filled on the same day n got accept on the same day. Her wmr change at the end of Jan to Feb 5 she got her money. While my wmr change processing delayed code 1201 WTF seriously I got the letter 4464c on Feb 8 which didn’t explain anything. Those irs Csr half Of them dont even know whats going on.. long time on hold to get an answer of u have to wait. Its been 3 weeks and the wmr still the same what the hell! We need our money.
I spoke with the IRS friday night (3/5) and I was told that if you are receiving a refund by mail then the rule of thumb is 2 weeks after the official “mailed date” as stated on the Where’s My Refund site. My check was supposedly mailed on February 19th and I still had not received it as of 3/5. I explained that 2 weeks would have been 3/4 and the operator said that “it should be any day now” but that otherwise there was nothing that she could do other than make note of the situation.
I filed my taxes on 01/18/10 through Turbo tax. I was to get my refund on 01/29/10 and didnt. I waited and waited with no updates on either the WMR or auto line at the IRS. I FINALLY got a letter on 02/10/10 stating that they want copies of my W-2 however, I own my own business and dont have a W-2… so I called the IRS and they told me that they did not know why they are asking for my W-2’s and I asked them what was I suppose to do now and she said “I dont know.” So I called again and there is still no code or update on the Auto system or WMR. The letter said I had to respond within 20 days and that was up on 03/02/10 as I did nothing since I dont have W-2’s. I filed my taxes this year as the same last year and used the business software for the filing. I dont know what to do either… I have contacted TT and they pass it off to the IRS and I call the IRS and they are CLUELESS!!! Well next week it will be 2 months since I have filed and waiting…… I just want some ANSWERS—-please
I filed on Jan. 15…got accepted on 1/18…got a 4464c letter dated the 25th of January, telling me to wait 45 days. As of tomorrow that time is up and still no refund. WMR still says the same thing has not been updated in a month. reference code 1201…ext. 462….This had never happened to me before..am a little worried.
@needmymoney ….yes, it was on the IRS check your refund website.
This page hasn’t been updated for 2010. And this year’s time line is different… check out the publication listed in the article, it has been updated.
I e-filed my return on 1/20/2010 and I am still waiting. The IRS website says that they have received my return and it is being processed and if I need additional info to call IRS and reference #362. But when I call the IRS it tells me the same thing but that if I want further info to reference #462!!!!! After sitting on hold for 20 minutes I hung up…Unbelievable.
@ Kerri, I got that same message. When it says that, all that will happen is that it will come back next wednesday with a code 1201 or 1301. It happened to my friend. His said that he should expect it by March 2. Well when March 3rd came, it updated with code 1301. If it was coming it would give a direct deposit date of March 5th. We are fucked!!!!
I feel for all of us…..I was suppose to recieve my refund on 2/19. It was then pushed to 2/23, well that day come and when I checked it was puched to March 9. The message is saying it is still being process and unless we find a mistake you should have your return by 3/9. I too am hoping I get it.
If anyone recieve this after going through this please let all know so we can remian hopeful.
I filed my taxes on January 16 and I have not recieved my refund yet. They sent me a letter telling me that if I havent heard from them in 45 days to call them. HaHa. I have called them every week and I still do not have a tentative release date. And they keep telling me to be patient. My patience is out the window. Something has got to give!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was trying to see has anyone receive their refund that was mailed out on February 26,2010.I was suppose to get mines on January 29,2010 but my bank account got closed by the bank. So it got sent back now a paper check was mailed out but I haven’t received it yet. Please help
LOL! I filed my return on Feb 17th (Turbo Tax e-file) and finally got my CP53 notice today. Now I have to wait for another month (after March 8th because it’s postdated) before I can call again….
Patience, where did you get this message ? is that from the IRS ‘where ’s my refund ?’ website ?
“We have received your tax return and it is being processed. Your expected refund date has been changed due to processing delays. You should receive your refund by March 23, 2010. Please wait until that date to contact us again because we cannot take any action until then. Thank you for your patience.”
I’m glad to find this message board. I stayed up late and efiled thru Intuit at 3:45am. It was accepted by IRS on 12:45am this morning so it took about 9 hours for them to accept it. The estimated date of the direct deposit is 3/19 based on the refund cycle chart. It worries me now that it will be later based on the messages that are posted here that there are processing delays. If they can accept the refund in less than 10 hours, it should be a no brainer to setup payments and direct deposit to my bank. My bank is Bank of America and is nationwide, not a local bank. In ‘09, I transmitted the return on a Sat. 4/4 and got the deposit on 4/13 so even I missed the cutoff cycle of 11:00am on Thursday, it did not seem to push it behind another week.
Crossing my fingers for a quick return as I need the money sooner than normal this year. IRS should get their processing times up as I expect more people needing their refund more than last year.
i was supposed to get my refund this friday but i got this instead:
We have received your tax return and it is being processed. Your expected refund date has been changed due to processing delays. You should receive your refund by March 23, 2010. Please wait until that date to contact us again because we cannot take any action until then. Thank you for your patience.
so, we’ll see.
hey everyone!
so i called the irs today (second time btw) first i was told i was going to receive my refund on fri. feb. 26th…. but of course nothing!!!! today i was told i should receive a letter within a week or two! soooo!! i’m crossing fingers that the wont happen and i get my check by FRIDAY! PRAYING!!!
Hello Everyone, a bit of good news, I filed on the 6th of Feb, and irs chart stated dd would happen on the 19th. WMR updated and said the 16th of March then after a week it update to the 30th of march. On yesterday I called the business irs line (not individual) and got a rep who transferred me to the individual irs rep line, I explained what happened and she said oh, the system has been realy slow, but your refund is showing that it will be deposited on the 5th (friday March), I just checked my bank and there is a pending payment from the US treasury. So I would highly recommend calling. Furthermore my refund amount was over 13,000 so for those of you who are asking if dd can occur if the amount is over 10,000 the answer is yes. I hope I answered some questions, and I pray everyone gets their refund soon.
I will check back just to see if anyone has any questions that I could answer.
Bye waiting
I mailed my return on Feb 2nd and WMR still doesn’t even acknowledge that I sent it. Anyone else mail their return this year?
*update* Checked the IRS WMR site this morning and after being on code 1301 for 3 weeks and them saying they would send me a letter which never came, it now says if we don’t find any mistakes or you owe other taxes you should receive your refund by March 16th.I’m keeping my fingers crossed…
