Amen to buying at the 99 cent store. I setup networks and troubleshoot PCs on the side. When clients want to get a new printer I tell them to buy one with a USB port and that I will give them a deal on the cable. So they buy the printer and I sell them a brand new Belkin 6 foot USB 2.0 cable for $5, a quick 400% profit for me and the client still feels like they’re getting a great deal compared to the price they see in the store. I make sure to have 3 or 4 in stock so I’m not missing out on major profit.

Oh man, this brings back memories of an old job…lets just say, as an employee we got stuff at cost…cables, all cables, marked up at least a couple thousand percent. Crazy.

My college got gigabit when I was a sophomore and if you broke your cable, the bookstore only had 3 foot ones for FIFTY DOLLARS. Some guy had a nice little side business selling 30′ cables for ten dollars on the student message board, because they really weren’t that expensive online. Price of ignorance.
